Which was freaking crushed by my dad's ass.
We aren't going to Cancun, and the only place that seems fun is Atlantis and with the little ounce of hope I have left, I put my 2 hours blowing of having fun with my friends, to find a damn package and airfare. I also had to include a third person (Nathan).
All of this grievous work ended in nothing. He said the first time (Where he came up to my room, barely holding on to his towel after his ascent from the hot tub, he said, "Dillon, good job you found a place?"..."What's the price?"..."And Nathan can pay for it"..."Oh good, I guess I'll consider it"... The part I don't understand at all, is how he could go from this nice tone, to this almost bi-polar tone where he was basically reprimanding me for even the slightest consideration of this trip.
Sure its expensive, but so if freaking gas. So it gas in an airplane. So is a car. So is college tuition. So is taxes and bills, but you still fucking pay for it. Doesn't he, and so many parents of this era ever get the obvious fact that although expensive, its good. Sure, there is those bargins of low price items. For example of this theory,
A lemon of X brand of 9 quality (of 1-10, 10 being the best) is on regular sale for an average of $5.00, compared to the average lemon of Y brand, and of 6 quality, but at $2.50 average.
Now clearly we know the the X brand is of greater quality, and of greater cost.
Brand Y of lesser value and quality.
Now the bargain deals would be brand X at a cost of $3.00, which technically would be only $1.00 more than brand Y times 2 quantity. (So 2X=6, and 2y=5, thus is a bargain)
But if you got 2Y= 5 when 1X=5 than 1X=2Y.
But really the fact remains the same, be rational, which would you rather have? An okay lemon times 2, or 1 amazing lemon?
In technical terms, 1X > 2X quality wise. obviously 9 > 6, but you cannot multiply a single quality by 2. How can 2 lemons with an average quality be better than 1 lemon with an amazing (9/10) quality? Rationally than 1X > 2Y because quality squared is an incorrect statement based on reason.
Therefore my father expects me to go to a lesser hotel, and actually expects it to be just the same as Atlantis? Illogical and ill-based information. I am guessing you could go to Atlantis by paying to get in (And he said only one day i could go there). It's the equivalent of going to Disney World, but not even staying at the resort, It's not as good spiritually or rationally.
The whole experience of enjoyment is the actually physical being of, well, being there. Waking up there and knowing that you woke up in Atlantis.
Another example is paintball guns/airsoft guns.
You could easily infer that the more expensive of the guns is better, but really you dont know until you actually see the information, unless you have used it in a game or just shooting it.
Rationally a 600 dollar metal AEG is going to be better than a plastic 200 dollar AEG.
Atlantis is of better quality than Hotel X (X=whatever the damn name is).
In Conclusion, well, in laments terms, my dads' an idiot who doesn't see things rationally, only in quantities. Not quality such as he protests he sees things in (Hypocritical)
Right now I could care less If i go there, and quite frankly i would only go there if Nathan was to be joining me.
Also, I don't think i would even want to go on a vacation with just my dad. What better thing would have do than take some sun and flirt with the bartenders?
I know there we're down sides to this trip:
-Timing
-Last minute
-Money
-Availability, ect.
But really there was always that easy possibility to go. It all feel onto one thing really. Nathan being able to pay for it, which from what i've been told and seen, he'd go there no matter what cost really. (At least money cost, not the very unrealistic: "You can go, but your mom will be killed" crap)
